About this activity

Northern Lights Tour from Rovaniemi

Looking for an unforgettable Northern Lights tour from Rovaniemi? Join our small-group Aurora Hunt and travel into the Arctic wilderness in search of one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena.

Your experienced guide will monitor weather conditions, cloud cover and Aurora forecasts before choosing the best possible route for the evening. Instead of remaining in one fixed location, we travel to carefully selected viewing spots around Rovaniemi to improve your chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

Active Aurora Hunt in the Arctic Wilderness

The Northern Lights are unpredictable, so flexibility is essential. Depending on the conditions, your guide may take you to frozen lakes, quiet forests, remote roads or open viewpoints with minimal light pollution.

Our goal is to find the clearest skies available and give you the best possible opportunity to witness the Aurora Borealis dancing above the snowy landscapes of Finnish Lapland.

Small-Group Northern Lights Experience

Our Aurora tour from Rovaniemi is operated in small groups, creating a more personal and relaxed experience. Smaller groups allow us to move quickly when weather conditions change and reach locations that may not be suitable for large buses.

You will also have more time to speak with your guide, enjoy the peaceful Arctic surroundings and take photographs without crowded viewing areas.

Finnish BBQ Around the Campfire

During the Northern Lights hunt, we will stop at a peaceful outdoor location to warm up around a campfire. You will enjoy grilled sausages and hot berry juice while surrounded by the silence of the Arctic wilderness.

The campfire break is the perfect opportunity to relax, learn more about the Northern Lights and wait for the sky to clear.

Optional Aurora Guarantee Protection

For additional peace of mind, you can add our optional Aurora Guarantee Protection when booking.

If the Northern Lights are not seen during your tour, you can choose between a full refund of your tour ticket, excluding the guarantee fee, or a free second Aurora tour, subject to availability.

The price for this protection starts from €65 per adult or €55 per child. High season price: €75 adults, €65 child.

The Aurora Guarantee Protection must be added at the time of booking and can only be purchased up to 14 days before departure.

Professional Northern Lights Photography

You can also add a professional Northern Lights photography service for only €29 per group.

There is no need to purchase the photos in advance. Photographs are taken when the Northern Lights appear, and you can decide after the tour whether you would like to buy them.

Departure time: The tour departs anytime between 18:00 and 21:30, depending on weather conditions and forecasts. You will receive your exact pickup time on the same day of the tour via email or WhatsApp.

Cancellation Policy: The booking can be cancelled for free up to 3 days before departure. After that time a cancellation fee of 100% will apply.

Additional notes:

  • For groups with fewer than 5 participants, transportation may be arranged in a standard 5-seater vehicle instead of a minivan.

  • We aim to operate all tours as scheduled. In rare cases of low participation, we will offer an alternative date, experience, or full refund.

  • The presence of the Northern Lights and refund eligibility are determined by our guide and supporting camera photos taken during the tour. Brief or weak appearances that are only visible by camera, but not clearly visible to the naked eye, do not qualify for a refund. If no Aurora Guarantee Protection is purchased, the Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed and no refund will be issued in case of no appearance. The free second tour option is subject to availability. If no alternative date is available, only the refund mentioned above will be granted. By completing the booking, you acknowledge and accept these terms.

Your guide will take you to carefully selected spots, far from city lights, where the chances of seeing the aurora borealis are highest.

While waiting for the lights to appear, you’ll enjoy some chocolate and juice under the stars, surrounded by the peaceful Lappish wilderness.
